Islington ACL courses
We have an exciting skills and employment training offer that is free to adults who are aged 19+ (as at 31 August 2024) and either unemployed or earning less than £25,642. Scroll through our wide range of courses here.

Enrolment days - Thursday 9th and Friday 10th January 2025
Start a new course in January with Islington Adult Community Learning by coming to our enrolment days on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th January, 9.30am to 4pm (last assessment 3.15pm), at the Community Centre, 76 Parkhurst Road. N7 0FF.

Registering/ applying for a Course
To register for one of our courses you will need to sign up for (or sign in if you already have one) an account beforehand. Once you have an account you can then sign in and apply to the course you would like to do. Please note that during the application / enrolment process, you may be asked to provide one or more of the following:
- A form of identification, such as a driver's licence
- Proof of residency in Islington (or London), such as a household bill no older than 3 months old
- If you are not a UK national - a document, such as a biometric residency card, to confirm that you have permission to stay in the UK. If you have card with a validity date of 31 Dec. 2024, please provide a share code or a letter confirming your stay in the UK is beyond 31 Decemeber 2024.
- If you are in paid employment and earning less than £25,642 per gross annum, e.g. a payslip or universal credit statement no older than 3 months
After registration/ application
Your details will be reviewed and then you will be contacted by the tutor to discuss the course details with you, which also may include doing an initail assessment. If all is well, you will be then offered a place on the course,
English, ESOL, Digital Skills and maths initial assessment sessions
Looking to improve your English, digital or maths skills for work or to help with your kids with their homework? Our English, maths, digital and ESOL (Engish for speakers of other languages) courses will help you to improve your skills. Classes from beginners up to level 2.
Drop-in assessment every Monday (during term-time) at 12.30pm for registration and 1pm for assessment.
Venue: First Steps Learning Centre, 2nd floor, Central Library, 2 Fieldway Crescent. N5 1PF.
Exam certificates
If you think you have exam certificates (dated from August 2022 onwards) to collect, these can be done at Arsenal Learning Hub, 56 Benwell Road. N7 6BA (from 16 September) on Mondays, Wedensdays and Fridays between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
