Beginner Embroidery: Sustainable Textile Skills

<p>This creative course introduces learners to embroidery techniques that transform and personalise existing garments, accessories, and household textiles. Designed for beginners and those with some crafting experience, the programme focuses on using embroidery as a sustainable way to repair, refresh, and upcycle old or unused items, helping to reduce textile waste while encouraging creativity and individual expression. Learners will explore a range of hand embroidery stitches and decorative techniques while learning how to apply them to visible mending, embellishment, and garment customisation projects. The course encourages learners to reimagine worn, damaged, or outdated items by adding embroidered detail, repairing imperfections, and creating unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Through guided practical activities, learners will develop confidence in selecting fabrics, threads, colours, and designs suitable for different projects and materials. By the end of the course,  learners will have completed a range of embroidered upcycling projects and gained the skills and inspiration to continue using embroidery as a sustainable creative practice at home or within future textile and craft projects.</p>
