Course details

<p>Maths skills are an essential part of daily life activities, they support further study and open more opportunities with employers.  </p>

<p> </p>

<p>Our courses support learners at each level from basic maths skills through to Functional Skills Mathematics to level 2 and GCSE qualifications. </p>

<p> </p>

<p>If you are new to Adult Education and are thinking about developing your number skills why not come along to one of our open days, or if you have access to the internet, visit our website and make an enquiry online (link at the bottom of the page).  </p>

<p>Once you have submitted your enquiry, someone from Student Services will be in touch to arrange a time to come and speak to a relevant teacher before you sit your initial assessment. Everyone new to the service will need to complete an initial assessment for us to place you on the most appropriate level of course for you. Student Services will also be on hand to give you information and guidance regarding the appropriate courses we can offer you.</p>

<p>Please make sure you bring your ID/Residency evidence with you to the session. </p>

Course requirements

<p>You do not need any formal qualifications to start studying on a maths course with us.  </p>

What are the benefits of this course?

<p>The benefits of developing your maths skills are the difference they can make to your everyday life. You will be able look after your finances, use them in cooking, decorating and gardening!</p>

<p>Maths skills are also especially important to some job roles, so gaining qualifications can make you more work ready and support promotions. </p>

<p>You will also be given a Microsoft Office 365 email account with access to MS Office programs, so you will be developing your digital skills too. </p>

How will I learn?

<p>Classes are currently face-to-face in a classroom setting with some opportunities for online sessions as homework. Lessons are interactive with lots of different activities to help you learn, remember and apply your skills in your everyday life.  </p>

<p>We also offer support sessions and workshops to support your learning throughout the week if you feel you need a little extra explanation of practice or just need quiet time to keep up if you have a busy home life. </p>

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

<p>You will have regular progress review meetings with your teacher, and this will be recorded in your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to keep you focused and on track with your developments. Once you have covered all of the necessary maths topics, your teacher will start to prepare you for sitting the exam using mock papers under exam conditions. </p>

Are there any additional costs?

<p>Maths courses are free if you have not already achieved a GSCE in Maths at grade 4 to 9 or C to A* </p>

What qualification will I get?

<p>Some of our courses help you to develop your skills and prepare you to go on a qualification course, so there will be no qualification certificates. Where you are on a qualification you will be awarded one of the following qualifications: </p>

<p>EdExcel/Pearson Functional Skills in Mathematics (at the level you are studying)</p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>or  </p>

<ul>
<li>
<p>AQA GCSE Mathematics </p>
</li>
</ul>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>On successful completion of the qualification, your teacher will speak to you about progressing up to the next level and other Learning opportunities.</p>
