Course details

<p>Digital and computing skills are an essential part of daily life and work-related activities; they support further study and open up more opportunities with employers. </p>

<p>We offer a range of Digital and Computer Skills courses from Entry Level to Level 3 that will help you reach your goal.  </p>

<p><strong>Making the Most of Your Digital Device </strong>is a short course that will help you make better use of your digital devices it will develop your confidence within the digital world and help you in everyday life.? This course will help you take and download photos, download and use Apps, search for information on the internet, and help you to use emails and social media safely. </p>

<p><strong>Introduction to Digital Skills</strong> is a short course, ideal for beginners.  It will help you gain a basic knowledge and understanding of the digital skills needed to support you in everyday life and on other courses.?You will learn how to use the mouse and keyboard and complete simple typing exercises. This course will help you find information from the internet and stay safe on line.   </p>

<p><strong>Move On with your Digital Skills and Get Confident with your Digital Skills</strong> will continue to develop your knowledge and understanding of digital skills. You will learn how to keep your devices up to date, create and save documents in digital folders and recognise when there is a technical problem and how to resolve it.  These skills will support you in everyday life, on other courses and help you to become work ready.? </p>

<p><strong>Digital Skills for Work Level 2</strong> is a 12 week course that will equip you with the digital skills useful in a work context.  Topics include handling information, creating and editing documents such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and communicating digitally using online media. As well as giving you valuable life and work skills, it will result in a qualification to help you to progress to the next level of learning. </p>

<p><strong>Certificate in IT User Skills Level 3 (ICDL Advanced)</strong> is a year long course which will build on existing digital skills and knowledge and help you become an expert user of Microsoft Office applications. Join our course to enhance your employment opportunities or current career path prospects .  Topics include word processing, presentation software, Excel spreadsheets, databases and productivity in IT. </p>

<p><strong>Excel for Work</strong> is an ideal short course to further develop your skills in using Excel as an application in employment.  If you have a basic knowledge of maths and a working knowledge of Excel you will be able to make the most of your learning on the course and develop key skills for work.  </p>

Course requirements

<p>Entry to these courses starts with a starting points discussion with your teacher and may be followed by a skills check of your current levels in English, maths and digital skills. You will need to have a good use of English for each course level. There will be an opportunity to join a separate English, ESOL or maths class if you do not already have a Level 2 qualification in these subjects.  </p>

<p>You will need 100% attendance throughout the course to successfully achieve. </p>

How will I learn?

<p>Sessions will be delivered face-to-face. Lessons will include discussions, group activities, tutorials, and practical activities.  Courses will prepare you in the best way for a move onto the next level or into employment.  For some courses there may be online sessions where you will be supported remotely by your teacher.  </p>

<p>Learning support is available if you have any  learning difficulties, let us know on your application form if you require support with your learning.  </p>
