Course details

<p>The Choices Project is about supporting residents of Wolverhampton and the surrounding West Midlands area to progress toward their long-term goals, whether this is a volunteering role, employment, further learning or improving their health and wellbeing.</p>

<p>Short courses are designed to:</p>

<ul>
<li>Find out what skills you already have, even if you don’t think you have any! Many skills and experience are transferrable from your everyday life into volunteering or employment</li>
<li>Help you identify what your goals are, where would you like to volunteer, what sector would you like to work in?</li>
<li>Help you identify what is stopping you progress, where do you need some support.</li>
<li>Introduce you to the roles and responsibilities of a volunteer and the expectations of employers</li>
<li>Provide one to one careers advice and coaching to help you achieve more</li>
</ul>

<p>Many courses will be in the community and designed along with organisations who have volunteering opportunities which need filling, some may even have paid jobs for you to apply for.</p>

<p>Adult Education also has a variety of volunteering opportunities so if you are an existing student you may want to volunteer in familiar surroundings and build your confidence.</p>

<p>We welcome everyone, you do not need to be at a particular level, just willing to learning and wanting to do something life changing.</p>

<p>City Learning Quarter, Old Hall Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 3AU also various Community Venues</p>

What are the benefits of this course?

<li>You will study with support from a dedicated Student Services Team</li>
<li>All the teachers are experts in their subject, fully qualified and experienced</li>
<li>We get excellent feedback from students</li>
</ul>

<p>Many students will be able to access financial support e.g., travel, childcare, course fees, resources</p>

How will I learn?

<p>You will be expected to all sessions of these short courses. All sessions are delivered face-to-face and you will also be able to receive one-to-one advice and guidance, mentoring and coaching if required.</p>

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

<p>Your teacher will check to make sure you understand the learning in class as we go along and give you feedback to help you.</p>

<p>Progression will depend on your individual goals, but whether they are to gain employment, a volunteering role or moving on to another learning course we will work with you during the course to record your progress in your individual learning plan and to find the right opportunity for you to apply for.</p>

Are there any additional costs?

<p>There are no additional costs to this course.</p>

What qualification will I get?

<p>This is not a qualification course however, you may progress on to short qualifications if they will help you progress.</p>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>You may be able to move straight into a volunteering post or want support to apply for jobs you have seen.</p>

<p>Or you might want to complete our Level 1 Award in Volunteering to build your confidence once you have a volunteering role (look in the Volunteering category of WebEnrol for opportunities) or even look at our vocational courses and start to retrain for that ideal job.</p>
