<p>Digital and computing skills are an essential part of daily life and work-related activities; they support further study and open up more opportunities with employers. </p>

<p>We offer a range of Digital and Computer Skills courses from Entry Level to Level 3 that will help you reach your goal.  </p>

<p> </p>

<p>Making the Most of Your Digital Device is a short course that will help improve how you use your digital devices. You will develop confidence in the digital world and its use in everyday life. This course will help you take and download photos, download and use Apps, search for information on the internet, and help you to use emails and social media. </p>

<p> </p>

<p>Introduction to Digital Skills is a short course, ideal for beginners.  You will gain a basic knowledge and understanding of the digital skills needed to support you in everyday life and other learning. You will learn to use the mouse and keyboard and complete simple typing exercises. This course will help you book online appointments, find information from the internet, do online shopping, use email to communicate, and stay safe online.   </p>

<p>Move on With Your Digital Skills Entry Level 3 and Get Confident with Your Digital Skills Level 1  are 18- week courses where you will continue to develop your knowledge and understanding of digital skills. You will learn how to keep your devices up to date, create and save documents in digital folders, and recognise when there is a technical problem and how to solve it.  These skills will support you in everyday life, and on other courses and prepare you to become ready for work.</p>

<p>Digital and IT Skills Level 2 is an 18-week course that will help you develop and extend your digital skills that you can use in work. The subjects taught include spreadsheet software and word processing software. Alongside valuable life and work skills, you will gain a qualification to help you progress to the next level of learning. </p>

<p>Microsoft Office Skills for Work is a non-accredited 10-week course to help you develop the necessary digital skills to support you in work.  The subjects taught include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  You will also use TEAMs software and learn how to keep safe online. </p>

<p>Introduction to Programming Level 1 will introduce you to the basic principles of programming and how to design a simple computer program. </p>

<p> </p>

<p>Certificate in IT User Skills Level 2 (ITQ) and Level 3 (ICDL Advanced) are year-long courses building on existing digital knowledge and help you become an expert user of the software applications essential for employment today.  Topics include word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets, databases and productivity in IT.</p>

Course requirements

<p>Entry to these courses starts with an informal meeting with your teacher and a skills check of your current levels in English, maths, and digital skills. You will need a good use of English for each course level. There will be an opportunity to join a separate English, maths, and digital skills class if you do not already have a Level 2 qualification in these subjects.  </p>

<p>You will need 100% attendance throughout the course to successfully achieve.</p>

How will I learn?

<p>Sessions will be delivered face-to-face. Lessons will include discussions, group activities, tutorials, and practical activities preparing you for a move onto the next level of course or into employment. In addition, there may be online sessions where you will learn to use Microsoft Teams and the opportunity to attend additional workshops to further your skills.  </p>

<p>Learning support is available if you have any learning difficulties, let us know on your application form if you require support with your learning.</p>

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

<p>Assessments will take place throughout your study to ensure you remain on track. Your teacher will negotiate assessment plans with you regularly and give you feedback on how well you are doing.  </p>

<p>You will have an Individual Learning Plan to record your targets and progress.  Some courses use external assessments and in others, you will create a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed by your teacher and moderated externally. </p>

Are there any additional costs?

<p>For many students the course will be free; Student Services will check your eligibility for funding. You will need to supply writing materials such as pens, paper, and folders; you may be able to loan a laptop and MiFi dongle to enable you to access the internet to practice at home.</p>

<p>Gateway Certificate in IT User Skills Level 2 (ITQ) </p>

<p>BCS Certificate in IT User Skills Level 3 (ICDL Advanced) </p>
