Course details
<p>This is an application for new students who would like to join an ESOL class in September 2024. This is not for students who are currently enrolled on an ESOL course with us.</p>
<p>You will be contacted and invited to come for an assessment.</p>
<p>Once you have been assessed you will be contacted about a place on a course.</p>
<p>You may not have to pay for your course if you are unemployed or employed and have a low income. If you do have to pay, it may be a discounted fee. Student Services will be happy to advise you on whether or not you may have to pay for your ESOL course.</p>
Course requirements
<p>Before you join a course, you will have an assessment. This is to make sure you are placed on the right course at the right level. If your level is above Level 1 ESOL, you will be referred to our English courses.</p>

What are the benefits of this course?
<p>All courses will help you with everyday life, prepare you for work and will help you to learn more about life in the UK.</p>
How will I learn?
<p>You will come to class in small groups and also do homework and some online learning. We will show you how to learn English online as part of your course.</p>
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
<p>Your teacher will give you feedback throughout the course and tell you what you need to do next. Exams take place at the end of the course in ESOL Skills for Life (if appropriate).</p>
Are there any additional costs?
<p>No additional costs on this course.</p>
What qualification will I get?
<p>If you are successful in your exams you will receive an Ascentis Award certificate in the level you have studied. This may be in:</p>
<p>• Speaking and Listening</p>
<p>• Reading</p>
<p>• Writing</p>
What will I be able to do after this course?
<p>When you have achieved Entry 3 ESOL, you will also be able to join other courses at Adult Education, such as learning about childcare, business administration, maths and others. When you have completed Level 1 ESOL you will be able to progress to English courses and many other courses too, such as Community Interpreting and volunteering.</p>
