Signing in Your Workplace

<ul>
<li>A practical introductory course designed to help adults learn basic British Sign Language (BSL) for use in the workplace.</li>
<li>Ideal for staff who work with the public, customers or colleagues who may be Deaf or hard of hearing.</li>
<li>Focuses on simple, relevant signs and phrases used in everyday workplace situations.</li>
<li>A supportive, non-qualification course that promotes inclusive communication and accessibility at work.</li>
</ul>

<li>Introduction to British Sign Language</li>
<li>Basic workplace greetings and introductions</li>
<li>Fingerspelling for names and key information</li>
<li>Common workplace signs and phrases</li>
<li>Customer service and face-to-face communication</li>
<li>Deaf awareness and inclusive communication in the workplace</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>You must be aged 19 or over.</li>
<li>No previous BSL knowledge or qualifications required.</li>
<li>Suitable for complete beginners.</li>
<li>Willingness to practise signing and take part in interactive activities.</li>
<li>An interest in improving communication and inclusion in the workplace.</li>
</ul>

<li>Improves confidence communicating with Deaf or hard of hearing people.</li>
<li>Promotes inclusive and accessible workplace practices.</li>
<li>Develops basic BSL skills for everyday work situations.</li>
<li>Enhances customer service and professional communication.</li>
<li>Increases awareness of Deaf culture and communication needs.</li>
</ul>

<li>Through teacher-led, interactive sessions.</li>
<li>Practical signing activities linked to real workplace scenarios.</li>
<li>Group and pair work to practise communication skills.</li>
<li>Demonstrations, repetition and visual learning support.</li>
<li>A friendly, inclusive learning environment.</li>

<li>Ongoing informal assessment during session activities.</li>
<li>Teacher observation and feedback on signing and communication skills.</li>
<li>No exams and no formal assessments.</li>
<li>Guidance provided to support further learning.</li>

<li>Course fees may apply, depending on eligibility.</li>
<li>Learning materials are provided.</li>
<li>No specialist equipment required.</li>
</ul>

<p>This is a <strong>non-qualification course.</strong><br />
Students receive teacher feedback and guidance to support progression.</p>
