Course details
<p>Do you want to develop your creative passion by being able to create your own art work?</p>
<p>Would you like to be self-employed or work in the creative industries?</p>
<p>We offer a range of courses from Entry Level to Level 2 that will help you reach your goal.</p>
<p><strong>Art – an introduction</strong> – Start your creative journey with this short beginner’s course. You will learn basic art skills and how to use various creative media yo give you a taste of this subject. There will also be group discussions about artists’ works and current art exhibitions. There are opportunities for the use of information learning technology to develop your work, research artists and art movements.</p>
<p><strong>Art Level 1</strong> – Moving on to this Level 1 year-log course you will learn art skills including observational drawing, perspective, scale and proportion and colour theory in more detail. You will continue to learn to use various media such as pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolour, oils and acrylics and develop your skills further gaining confidence in your abilities. You will continue to research and discuss various artists’ works and current art exhibitions. </p>
<p><strong>Art Level 2</strong> – As you continue to explore your own creative practice, at this level you will consider the skills needed to explore setting up your own small creative business, ideal if you have ever wanted to find out how to start to make money from your art or craft or work n the creative industries.</p>
Course requirements
<p>Entry to these courses starts with an informal meeting with your teacher. You will need to have a good use of English for each course level. There will be an opportunity to join a separate English, maths or digital skills class if you do not already have a Level 2 qualification in these subjects.</p>
<p>You will need 100% attendance throughout the course to successfully achieve.</p>

<li>You will gain a valuable addition to your CV to help you get a job or help you to get a better job</li>
<li>You will study in an adult environment with support from a dedicated student services team</li>
<li>You will meet new people, develop your networks and your confidence</li>
<li>Many students will be able to access financial support e.g., course fees, resources, travel, childcare, laptop loan</li>
<li>All the teachers are experts in their subject, fully qualified and experienced</li>
<li>We get excellent feedback from students</li>
<li>You will be given a FREE Microsoft Office 365 account including access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint.</li>
</ul>
How will I learn?
<p>Sessions will be delivered face-to-face including planned sessions, discussions, group activities, research, tutorials, and demonstrations followed by practical activities giving you the best experience whilst you prepare in the best way for a move onto the next level of course or into employment. In addition there may be online sessions where you will learn to use Microsoft Teams. Up to 25% of your course will be independent learning that will involve you carrying out activities outside of the classroom.</p>
<p>Learning support is available if you have a learning disability, let us know on your application if you require support.</p>
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
<p>Assessment takes place throughout your study in the form of written assignments and the production of a range of items. Your teacher will negotiate assessment plans with you on a regular basis and will give you feedback on how well you are doing.</p>
<p>You will have an Individual Learning Plan, which will be used to record your targets and progress. There are no examinations as you put together a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed by your teacher and moderated externally.</p>
Are there any additional costs?
<p>For many students these courses will be free especially if you are unemployed, please contact Student Services to check your eligibility for funding.</p>
<p>You will need to supply your own writing materials such as pens, paper and folders and you will need to provide your own art materials, the teacher will advise you in your first session. If you do not have a computer or laptop but need to use one for your learning you may be able to loan a laptop and a MiFi dongle to enable you to learn at home.</p>

What qualification will I get?
<p>On successful achievment of your course you will be awarded one of the following:</p>
<p>NCFE Entry Level Award in Creative Craft</p>
<p>NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft</p>
<p>NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Craft</p>
What will I be able to do after this course?

<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">You may wish to broaden your skills in other areas such as English, maths or digital skills.</span></span></span></li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-left:11px">Successful achievement of the course may lead to a variety of employment opportunities after further study including:</p>
