Waiting List: Nail Technology - VTCT Level 3 Diploma

<p><strong>Please note, all the information below regards Level 2 Certificate in Liquid and Powder Nail enhancements. This is a waiting list for the next available course which begins in September 2024 however, we will begin the application process early in the spring. Please read the information below and apply to join the waiting list in readiness for spring 2024.</strong></p>

<p><strong><u>The course</u></strong></p>

<p>This course will enable learners to gain the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in order to provide nail treatments. With the other learners in your class, you will cover the following units:</p>

<ul>
<li>Care of the nails on the hand including hand massage and application of polish</li>
<li>Care of the nails on the feet including foot massage and application of polish</li>
<li>Applying and maintaining nail enhancements - liquid and powder, gel and wraps</li>
</ul>

<p>You will also develop knowledge of related health and safety, client care, communication and professional conduct and business awareness which are essential to working and being successful in the beauty and nail industry. </p>

<p>A variety of learning activities will be used on this course, including tutor presentation and demonstration, practical application of skills, individual and group work, discussions, Q&A, internet research, individual research and project work. Regular home study will be necessary to successfully complete this course. You will be supported to develop good study skills. You will initially develop practical skills by working on other learners in your class until you have developed enough skill to offer treatments to clients. Your tutor will also support you to improve your English and maths skills alongside your learning of your vocational subject. This will include assessing your current skills and planning learning activities related to your subject that are designed to develop your skills in these areas. To support this, you will undertake some e-learning modules, where appropriate, as homework.</p>

<p>There may be the opportunity to undertake a work placement during your course. Full details will be shared at induction. If you have declared at enrolment that you are unemployed, you may be invited to meet with an Information, Advice and Guidance Officer or employability member of staff, to identify other learning opportunities that will support you to secure employment or improve your employment prospects. We highly recommend that you engage fully in any other learning opportunities that we help you identify.</p>

<p>This is a vocational course leading to a qualification, and the cost of it is subsidised by public funding. You will be required to complete all of the necessary coursework/assignments or exams by the given deadlines.</p>

<p>There will be an opportunity to ask any further questions you may have. If you have any certificates for qualifications in this subject area, or for English or maths, please bring them with you to the Admission Session.</p>

<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE </strong>- places on some of our courses will be in high demand and if you have been offered a place but no longer require it, please advise us immediately, as you may be preventing another learner from taking the place. Where learners do not attend the first session, without having given prior notice, Skills & Learning reserve the right to offer the place on the course to another learner (see Additional Information below).</p>

<p>This is a Level 3 examination course. Examination dates will be given to you by your tutor at the start of the course and may fall outside of the scheduled class times. Course work is also required to be completed during the course.</p>

<ul>
<li><strong>Awarding body:</strong> ITEC</li>
<li><strong>Assignments/Course work:</strong> You will complete a portfolio of evidence for the practical units that will be assessed internally by your tutor.</li>
<li><strong>Examination(s):</strong> At the end of the course your practical skills will be assessed by a practical examination conducted by an ITEC examiner. You will also take a multiple-choice theory test for the three units.</li>
</ul>

<p>You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop; this will be reviewed at regular intervals.</p>

<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE that this qualification must be completed within the deadline set. It may be possible to re-sit the examination within the academic year at an additional fee.</strong></p>

<p>We have designed this course to support you with working in the Beauty sector. Successful completion of this course will provide skills and knowledge required for job roles in beauty therapy or nail technology. You will need to have already completed the ITEC Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology (or equivalent as recognised by ITEC) prior to starting this course.</p>

<p>English language and/or maths skills at Level 1/Level 2 are required. You may be asked to complete an online assessment in English (and maths if applicable) prior to submitting a course application or as part of an enrolment session.</p>

<p>A course textbook and kit containing all essential items will be provided for you whilst on the course in order for you to be able to practise outside the classroom at no extra cost. There may be further materials you could obtain to further support your study. You will be guided by your tutor prior to any purchase.</p>

<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE </strong> anything provided is on loan to you and must be returned at the end of the course.
