What the course is about

<p>In your class you will:</p>

<ul>
<li>Revise the basics of maths including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and using multiplication tables</li>
<li>Use metric measures - millimetres, centimetres, metres, grams, kilograms, millilitres and litres</li>
<li>Work on fractions, decimals and percentages</li>
<li>Develop data handling skills including averages, drawing graphs and charts</li>
<li>Work on problem solving skills</li>
<li>Complete classroom and homework activities to prepare you for your assessment</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>This is a course leading to a qualification.</strong>This course is paid for by public funding and you will be required to complete recognised Maths Assessments. We will also, where appropriate, help you to improve other skills such as English, ICT and skills needed for employability.</p>

<p>You will be required to participate in an Admission Session to attend this course. Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>This is an accredited course. You will work towards an exam. If completing a qualification at Entry Level 3, your work will be marked and internally quality assured. Level 1 and 2 Functional Skills exams are set and marked externally. If successful you will receive a nationally recognised certificate. With your tutor you will agree goals for you to work on in class and this will be reviewed at regular intervals.</p>

<p>This course is for you if:</p>

<li>You want to develop and improve your skills and gain a qualification</li>
<li>You want to attend a small, friendly class and work at your own pace and level</li>
<li>You want to be more confident using Maths to do familiar tasks in a practical way</li>
<li>You can attend every week and complete home study tasks between sessions</li>
</ul>

<p>You do not need any previous experience or qualifications in Maths to attend this course. <strong>IMPORTANT - You will be expected to attend regularly from the first session and complete any homework given. If you do not attend you may be withdrawn from the course.</strong> </p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need an A4 folder, pen and paper, ruler and a calculator. <strong>The course is Government funded so there is no cost for the course. PLEASE NOTE - You will be charged an exam fee of £30 if you fail to turn up for an exam.</strong></p>
