What the course is about

<p>During this workshop you will explore ways you can take the first steps towards capturing those perfect images.</p>

<li>What makes a great photo?</li>
<li>Top tips for composition</li>
<li>Get snapping - progress through practice</li>
<li>What is depth of field and how can it transform my photos?</li>
<li>Shutter speed and lights</li>
<li>Tips for photographing children</li>

<p>This course will encourage you to increase your confidence and ability to make informed choices about personal and professional issues, helping to reduce social exclusion and isolation.</p>

<p>Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community.</p>

<p>Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.</p>

<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to review your progress towards achieving your goals during the session.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This is a Beginners course that has been designed especially for those aged over 60 years, who want to make the most of their digital camera or smartphone and have no experience in the subject or very basic knowledge of the subject.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder. Please bring your digital camera (any necessary cables) and the instruction manual.</p>

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
