What the course is about

<p>During this course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about the things you can do to support your wellbeing. Sessions combine both classroom and some outdoor activities. Upton Country Park staff and volunteers will be sharing knowledge and information about the house and surroundings including trees, plants and other wildlife that make the park their home. Please dress and wear the appropriate footwear for a gentle walk and weather. Topics that may be covered include:</p>

<li>What does Wellbeing Mean for Me</li>
<li>Connecting to self, activity, and others</li>
<li>Take Notice, perception, mindfulness techniques, and beginning the process of change</li>
<li>Keep Learning and Self-Management- coping strategies, asking for help</li>
<li>Give - reconnecting to our values, self-compassion, resilience and self-management</li>
</ul>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and some writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course. Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people. Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience. This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.</p>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>There are no pre-course admission sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course. Sessions combine both classroom and outdoor activities so please dress and wear the appropriate footwear for the weather and a gentle walk.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course. There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This is a Beginners course, and you will be expected to have no experience in the subject or very basic knowledge of the subject. You should have an interest in your own potential and what life has to offer. You will need to be prepared to take an active part in the sessions and to challenge some of your thoughts and beliefs. This course may be of particular help to you if you are on the verge of a life change, are looking for work or thinking of changing your career direction. This course could be helpful for people who are experiencing low mood, anxiety and/or stress. You need to consider the type of information that you are prepared to share with others in the session. However, this is a skills development course and you may wish to talk to a Doctor or other professional before joining this class if you have particular issues that you need to explore.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder. During the first session your tutor may discuss additional materials to bring if possible.</p>
