What the course is about

<p>During this course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about making a spring wreath. </p>

<p>This workshop will inspire you to explore a number of different designs of wreath, from the traditional to the quirky, with support from its professional and experienced tutor. </p>

<p>Using a mixture of fresh, natural or dried materials, together with decorative highlights such as real or artificial flowers, eggs, feathers or anything your imagination suggests means Spring, you will make an individual wreath that reflects you and your response to Spring, which you will be able to display for some time to bring pleasure in the season.</p>

<p>Only some materials to construct the wreath base will be provided. You will also need to provide some materials please see the materials section below. </p>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course.</p>

<p>Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.</p>

<p>This course offers an avenue for creative pursuits, improving your health, confidence and wellbeing. </p>

<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course. </p>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>There are no Pre-course admission sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.</p>

<p>Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>The workshop is structured in a way that gives you the opportunity to look at some different techniques enhanced with some tricks of the trade.</p>

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop your skills and review your progress at the end of the session.</p>

<p>Photographs will be taken to document the process and may be used for Social Media purposes. You may opt out of this if you wish, or photos can be taken of the arrangement only.</p>

<p>There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This is a workshop, and anyone is welcome to join and learn basic skills in the subject.</p>

<p>This course is ideal for anyone with or without experience of flower arranging, and who would like to explore how to use their creative skills for a spring decoration in a friendly and supportive group setting.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>This is a one-off workshop. Tools will be available to use during the workshop, but if you have your own and wish to use them, please bring them along (clearly labelled). This is at your own risk. </p>

<p>Some materials to construct the wreath base will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own selection of the following:</p>

<ul>
<li>Fresh or artificial flowers and foliage - a selection in colours and tones that you feel represents spring (no more than seven blooms/ seven flower heads.) If you have any hardy foliage, please bring some along.</li>
<li>Decorative eggs, feathers, twigs, cones, chicks or ribbons,</li>
<li>Scissors or secateurs if available</li>
</ul>

<p>You will find it useful to bring a notebook and pen.</p>

<p>If you wish to take your design home with you, please bring a suitable container.</p>

<p>You should not wear open toed shoes in the classroom, for your own safety. You may wear an apron to protect your clothing. If you suffer from known allergies to flowers or foliage, we advise you to bring protective gloves.</p>

<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />
<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
