What the course is about

<p>We understand that there are some tricky concepts to learn in maths. Therefore, this course is for anyone who would like to take everything a step at a time and learn how to solve maths calculations and problems. These could include:</p>

<ul>
<li>How to complete long division successfully, using visual aids to support you as needed. </li>
<li>How to complete multiplication problems using concrete and visual aids as needed.</li>
<li>Develop a further understanding of fractions and division, using pictorial guides as needed.</li>
<li>How to solve worded problems and apply maths to every day life settings.</li>
</ul>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>There is no admission session for this course. It is suitable for anyone wishing to improve their maths skills. You may be currently studying with us, or you may be new to Skills and Learning. Everyone is welcome. </p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>This course does not have a final assessment or exam. You will be asked to complete short comments in an ILP (Individual Learning Plan) to show your progress through the course. </p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for you if:</p>

<ul>
<li>You want to improve your maths skills. </li>
<li>You want to attend a small, friendly class and work at your own pace and level</li>
<li>You want to improve your confidence with maths.</li>
<li>You are able to attend every week and complete home study tasks between sessions</li>
</ul>

<p>You do not need any previous experience or qualifications in Maths to attend this course.</p>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will&nbsp;be required to do significant&nbsp;study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
