What the course is about

<p>Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry.</p>

<p>This is a user lead computer-based learning programme which will prepare you for the CPC theory-based tests only:</p>

<ul>
<li>1a - multiple choice. You will answer 100 questions.</li>
<li>1b - hazard perception test. You’ll watch 19 video clips and score points for the hazards you spot.</li>
<li>2 - multiple choice. The test is made up of 7 case studies you work through on a computer. The case studies are short stories based on situations that you’re likely to come across in your working life.</li>
</ul>

<p>The material contains all the latest, licensed DVSA revision questions and answers, over 700 interactive Hazard Perception clips that cover a wide variety of environments and road conditions, along with the largest database of professionally written CPC questions available.</p>

<p>If you intend to take a practical driver training course, we recommend that you organise your driver medical and provisional license application soon, you cannot apply for the practical driver training until you have these.</p>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>Learners need to be able to use a computer and assess at Level 1 for English language (or provide evidence of already obtained this qualification or equivalent).</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>All your learning materials are computer-based learning, the system will track your progress and check your learning along the way and give you the opportunity to revisit topics until you’ve mastered them.</p>

<p>You will have the opportunity to complete more than one mock test before taking your live test. The live test not organised by Skills and Learning.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for jobseekers with ambition to become a lorry driver.</p>

<p>You should speak to your Work Coach regarding having a driver medical and a provisional license.</p>

<p>You will need to complete all sessions and undertake mock tests before you book your live test.</p>

<p>You may wish to use a notebook and pen to make your own notes.</p>

<strong>Home study:</strong> you will&nbsp;be required to do significant&nbsp;study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
