What the course is about

<p>In your class you will:</p>

<ul>
<li>Revise the basics of maths including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and using multiplication tables</li>
<li>Use metric measures - millimetres, centimetres, metres, grams, kilograms, millilitres and litres</li>
<li>Work on fractions, decimals and percentages</li>
<li>Develop data handling skills including averages, drawing graphs and charts</li>
<li>Work on problem solving skills</li>
</ul>

<p>There is flexibility with this course as to whether you work towards a qualification or spend time learning about maths in readiness for completing an assessment in the future. </p>

<p>This course is paid for by public funding. We will also, where appropriate, help you to improve other skills such as English, ICT and skills needed for employability.</p>

<p>You will be required to participate in an admission session to attend this course. Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>There is an opportunity to work towards an exam if this is appropriate for you. For others, if you would prefer to spend time improving your mathematical knowledge and skills first, there will be an opportunity to take an exam at a later stage. </p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for you if:</p>

<ul>
<li>You want to develop and improve your skills and gain a qualification</li>
<li>You want to attend a small, friendly class and work at your own pace and level</li>
<li>You want to be more confident using Maths to do familiar tasks in a practical way</li>
<li>You can attend every week and complete home study tasks between sessions</li>
</ul>

<p>You do not need any previous experience or qualifications in Maths to attend this course.</p>

<p><strong>IMPORTANT - You will be expected to attend regularly from the first session and complete any homework given. If you do not attend you may be withdrawn from the course.</strong> </p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need an A4 folder, pen and paper, ruler and a calculator. <strong>The course is Government funded so there is no cost for the course. PLEASE NOTE - You will be charged an exam fee of £30 if you fail to turn up for an exam (accredited learners only). </strong></p>
