What the course is about

<li>Do you want to keep your brain active?</li>
<li>Want to have a bit of fun whilst playing maths games? </li>
<li>Do you want to use your number skills to solve some mathematical mysteries?</li>

<p>If you answered yes to any of these questions, this could be the course for you. It’s a short course with no exams.</p>

<p>This free course is specifically designed to cater for adults who want to keep their brains active using basic number skills. Delivered to small groups face to face, the sessions will get you thinking with a range of activities that can be enjoyed in a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming environment.</p>

<p>This 4-week course involves:</p>

<li>Get your brain warmed up with some number puzzles such as sudoku, number words and simple number challenges.</li>
<li>Flex those brain cells further in the brain gym by testing your memory with some memory games and bingo.</li>
<li>Try some brain exercises from your chairs to get your brain cells working on some mathematical mystery activities.  </li>
<li>Have fun with dice games and some more brain training. </li>
<li>You will also have opportunities to move on to other courses when you have completed the four weeks.</li>

<p>The first session will be a chat with your tutor to find out about your learning goals and check you are on the right course for your current level before we complete your enrolment. This may include an online assessment.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>There are no exams on this course although you may be expected to complete some homework tasks and assessments. </p>

<p>Your tutors will review your progress with you from time to time to make sure you are staying on track for your learning goals.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for adults (19 or older) who do not already have GCSE maths at Grade C (4) or above or an equivalent Level 2 maths qualification. </p>

<p>It is for people who want to improve their maths skills and confidence for everyday situations and overcome maths anxiety. </p>

Materials and costs

<p>This course is funded by the Government’s Multiply fund. Therefore, there are no fees or charges for course materials. However, you are expected to have your own pens and pencils, paper, ruler and calculator.</p>

<p>As this is an online course, you will need to be able to access the online sessions and materials on a computer, mobile phone or other device.</p>

Where learners do not attend the first session, without having given prior notice, Skills & Learning reserve the right to offer the place on the course to another learner; you will not be eligible for a refund it it is outside of the terms outlined in our cancellation policy.<br />
<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />
<strong>Qualification Levels:</strong> there is further information about qualification levels on our website.<br />
<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks. For information regarding each centre, please visit the venue section of our website <a href=""></a>.<br />
