What the course is about

<p>This course will give you the opportunity to perform basic hair services.</p>

<p>The topics you will work on are:</p>

<ul>
<li>Introduction to the hair sector</li>
<li>Presenting a professional image in a salon</li>
<li>You will then be able to develop skills in the following areas:</li>
<li>Shampoo and conditioning hair</li>
<li>Styling hair</li>
<li>An insight into cutting and colouring hair</li>
</ul>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop and review your progress throughout the course.</p>

<p>There is no qualification attached to this course.</p>

<p>You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop, which will be reviewed at regular intervals.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course has been designed to give you an insight into the hair/beauty industry and prepare you for further learning within the hairdressing.</p>

<p>Further qualifications at level 2 are required in order to qualify to work as a junior stylist in a Hairdressing.</p>

<p>No previous knowledge of hairdressing is required.</p>

<p>English language and maths skills at Level 1 are favourable. You may be asked to complete an online assessment in English (and maths if applicable) prior to submitting a course application.</p>

<p>There is an expectation that if you enrol on this course, you are willing to commit fully to the period of time involved in this course, the associated home study and the assessed work required.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear; black closed in shoes and black top and trousers. Guidance will be provided at your first session by your tutor.  There is no requirement to buy a kit as all equipment will be provided.</p>
