What the course is about

<p>Quality Assurance is a system of maintaining and improving standards. The qualification provides people who conduct internal quality assurance process with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for the role. They are available to anyone working in accredited learning or non accredited learning. The qualification includes the following units:</p>

<ul>
<li>401 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)</li>
<li>402 Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Unit 401</strong> is a knowledge based unit and which assesses your knowledge of the principles and practices of quality assurance in a learning & development context. You will develop evidence that demonstrates your understanding which could include: written statements/Q&A, oral statements/Q&A, professional discussions, assignments or projects. <strong>Unit 402 </strong>assesses your competence as an IQA in assuring the quality of assessment from within an assessment centre/organisation. Primary evidence must come from your monitoring and quality assuring the work of two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own through components of a qualification.</p>

<p>You will be required to attend workshops - dates to be confirmed according to your availability - and additional one to one meetings with your assessor as required. You will need to take on the IQA of two assessors, each with two candidates. You will be responsible for arranging this. A variety of learning activities will be used on this course, including tutor presentation and demonstration, practical application of skills, individual and group work, discussions, Q&A, internet research, individual research and project work. There may be vocational specialist guest speakers, or employers, invited to share their skills and experience. Regular home study will be necessary to successfully complete this course. You will be supported to develop good study skills. Your tutor will also support you to improve your English and maths skills alongside your learning of your vocational subject.</p>

<p>This is a vocational course leading to a qualification, and our Service is subsidised by public funding. You will be required to complete all of the necessary coursework/assignments or exams by the given deadlines. Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>This is a Level 4 assessed course. Once completed, your work will be marked and internally verified. An external verifier from the awarding body will visit to review your work before you receive your certificate. As soon as your certificate is received by Skills & Learning it will be forwarded to you.</p>

<strong>Assignments/Course work:</strong> Knowledge module (unit 4), written assignments, portfolio of evidence, observation by your assessor and professional discussion.<br />
<strong>Examination(s):</strong> None</p>

<p>You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop; this will be reviewed at regular intervals. <strong>PLEASE NOTE - this qualification must be completed within the deadline set. It may be possible to re-sit the examination within the academic year at an additional fee.</strong></p>

<p>We have designed this course to support you with working in the Education and Training sector. Successful completion of this course will provide skills and knowledge required for job roles in education, training and assessing. This course is for practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre/organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors.</p>

<p>English language at Level 2 is required. You may be asked to complete an online assessment in English prior to submitting a course application or as part of an enrolment session.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>Essential resources required to achieve your qualification are: access to a PC, laptop, notebook or tablet with broadband/wi-fi. There may be further materials you could obtain to further support your study. You will be guided by your tutor prior to any purchase.</p>

<p><strong>Please note - anything provided is on loan to you and must be returned at the end of the course. If it is not returned you will be invoiced for the full cost of a replacement.</strong></p>
