What the course is about
<p>The purpose of this <strong>admission session interview</strong> is to provide you with:</p>
<ul>
<li>A taste of Counselling Skills at Level 2 through a practical activity and some theory review. This will also provide tutors with an idea of your current level of skills and enable them to assess your suitability for the course.</li>
<li>Full details of the course delivery and the options available.</li>
<li>Information as to the pre-requisite skills or qualifications needed prior to enrolling.</li>
<li>Examples of the breadth and depth of study and the assignments you will need to undertake at Level 2.</li>
<li>An overview of the study materials you will use at Level 2.</li>
<li>Information as to the commitment and home study requirements.</li>
<li>Some suggestions for self-assessing your suitability for study at Level 2 and a career in Counselling.</li>
<li>A Skills Check for English, maths and ICT as appropriate.</li>
<li>Details of learning support or financial support that may be available to you.</li>
<li>An opportunity for you to ask questions about the programme.</li>
<li>Advice on what you may be able to do after the course and how to get the necessary qualifications to work as a Counsellor.</li>
</ul>
Pre-course information session or interview
<p>You will need to apply for a place on this enrolment session before being accepted onto the course. Please note that part of the admission session will be an <strong>interview </strong>where you will meet the tutors who will assess your suitability to begin a counselling course. The tutors consider the criteria of the awarding body, CPCAB. <p>Please ensure that you have read the course information sheet for the relevant course(s) before attending this enrolment session.</p>
<p>This Admissions Session will be held via Microsoft Teams. During the first part of the session, you will learn about the course, what is involved and possible career pathways. There will then be a group discussion. After this, you will be given a personal interview time. Please log back into Teams for this session which will be conducted by two tutors. There will be plenty of support throughout and opportunities to ask questions. </p>
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
<p>There will be an assessment of your English, prior to this admission session, so that we can gain an indication of your current level of skills to support you in these areas during your course.</p>
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
<p>This admission session is for learners wishing to join a Counselling Skills Level 2 course.</p>
<p>You will have either already completed and achieved a Counselling Skills Certificate qualification (or equivalent) at Introduction Level or are looking to join at Level 2 as a starting point.</p>
<p>If you have recently completed Counselling Skills at Introduction Level with Skills & Learning, you should still come to this admission session to ensure that progression to a Level 2 course is the right route for you. You may not be required to undertake an English and maths assessment if you have recently undertaken one with Skills & Learning.</p>
<p>If you have any certificates for qualifications in this subject area, or in English or maths, please bring them with you to the enrolment session.</p>

<p>plAll materials will be provided, although you may wish to bring a pen and paper with you for making your own notes.</p>

<strong>Attendance:</strong> before enrolling you should ensure that you can attend all classes offered as far as possible.<br />
<strong>Places on courses:</strong> many of our courses are in high demand. If you have been offered a place but no longer require it, please advise us immediately as you may be preventing another learner from taking the place. Where learners do not attend the first session, without having given prior notice, Skills & Learning reserve the right to offer the place on the course to another learner; you will not be eligible for a refund it it is outside of the terms outlined in our cancellation policy.<br />
<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />
<strong>Qualification Levels:</strong> there is further information about qualification levels on our website.<br />
<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
