What the course is about

<p>During this course you will receive both group and individual support from an experienced tutor who will guide you to use the internet and online services with success and safety, increasing your inclusion in the community through the fascinating world of technology and keeping you in touch with friends old and new. <br />

This course may include the following topics;</p>

<ul>
<li>How to get online</li>
<li>Explore malware, viruses, spyware and cookies</li>
<li>Discover the top tips for using online services and the internet safely including shopping and banking</li>
<li>How to manage your internet, computer and/or smartphone settings</li>
<li>Gain understanding in online etiquette</li>
</ul>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course.</p>

<p>Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.</p>

<p>Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.</p>

<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course. </p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.</p>

<strong>Home study:</strong> you will&nbsp;be required to do significant&nbsp;study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
