What the course is about
<p>The course will build on the skills covered in the Step 2 course and further develop your confidence and competence in using IT.</p>
<p>The course will develop your skills in: </p>
<ul>
<li>Setting up and using email - attachments, sending links, avoiding phishing e-mails </li>
<li>Using the internet - searching, bookmarking, copying and pasting links </li>
<li>File Management – creating folders, renaming them, moving files on a device, moving fiels to other devices </li>
<li>Various social media sites – Facebook, twitter, Instagram etc</li>
<li>Communication – Skype/Zoom, WhatApp, Messenger, Signal</li>
<li>Word processing – Microsoft Word</li>
<li>Spreadsheets – Microsoft Excel</li>
<li>Presenting – Microsoft PowerPoint</li>
</ul>
Pre-course information session or interview
<p>There are no entry requirements for this course but most participants will have completed the Step 2 course first.</p>
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course. </p>
<p>There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.<br />

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
<p>This is a Step 3 course that has been designed for those who have completed the Step 2 course.</p>
<p>Key questions for potential learners to consider might bemight be: </p>
<p>Have you done a previous course with Skills and Learning? Learners will probably have completed our ICT for Beginners Step 2 course. </p>
<p>What digital device do you have and how long have you had it? We are excepting learners to have a laptop or desktop. </p>
<p>What do you use your device for at the moment? We are expecting learners to use the internet, e-mails and perhaps Facebook. We are not expecting skills in file Managment and Excel at present. </p>
<p>Do you know how to make a multi-media (words, pictures and video) presentation and send it to friends and family? If the answer is yes then this course if probably too basic for you, If the answer is no then this course will be just right. </p>
Materials and costs
<p>You will need a notebook and a pen to write down instructions. You would ideally have access to a computer outside sessions to practice on.</p>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. <strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
