What the course is about

<p>A structured ICT course that is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for rewarding work roles and high quality home usage.</p>

<p>The course will develop learners’ ability to maximise tools available in word processing software to prepare, process and produce a wide range of sophisticated and professional documents. Learners will also develop an understanding of spreadsheet software (Excel), its tools, features and techniques used to produce spreadsheets and how to apply advanced formula and use automated tools.</p>

<p>This course will include:</p>

<ul>
<li>Creating and editing information in Word documents – including templates and save options</li>
<li>Modifying the style and layout of documents – including text formatting, inserting and formatting tables and images</li>
<li>Understand the features of spreadsheet software and how they are used</li>
<li>Create spreadsheets to improve productivity – including advanced formula, formatting options and methods to display data</li>
<li>Proofing and checking tools available in Word and Excel</li>
</ul>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>Learners need to be able to use a computer competently (at least level 1 standard) and assess at L1 and above for English language (or provide evidence othey have already obtained this qualification or equivalent)</p>

<p>Learners for this course might have taken our Digital Functional Skills courses at E3 and Level 1 standard but equally may have digital experience from their employment.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>This accredited course is assessed via portfolio. Learners will build up a vareity of work which will be both internally assessed and then checked by an external quality assurance process.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for learners that want to continue to develop their ICT and digital skills to a higher standard, either progressing from Digital Functional Skills Level 1 or identifying as having the necessary ICT skills to jump straight to this level from initial assessment results and discussion.</p>

<p>Learners should be competent computer users with some form of access outside of the classroom. Due to it being a portfolio based course, there will be an emphasis on coursework and some independent work outside the classroom.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need a notebook and pen to make notes in class. Access to computer outside of class is necessary to achieve on this level of course.</p>
