Pre-course information session or interview

This course builds IT skills at an introductory level but it would be helpful to most learners to do our ICT for Beginners A course first. Learners do not need any particular academic qualifications or work experience to do this course and we expect that every who applies will be welcomed on the course if there is enough space.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

This course is accredited as City & Guilds Entry Level Introductory Award in Employability Skills (Entry 3) = (601/3625/X). We will choose to complete Unit 5546-305 Entry 3 Introduction to ICT and then Unit 5546-902 Entry Leve Introductory Award in Employability Skills (Entry 3) to claim the accreditation.

The course is assessed via a portfolio of work that will be completed as we go along.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

This is the follow-on course to our ICT for Beginners A course and is suitable for a wide range of learners. Learners do not need any particular qualifications or experience and our expectation is that everyone who applies for the course will be welcomed on it if there is sufficient space.

Materials and costs

There are no additional costs to learners as we will provide a computer room to work in and access to an Office 365 account. Learners might like to bring a pen and paper if they want to write down some notes on how to do things. It is helpful to have a computer to practice on at home but that is not a requirement of the course and most libraries have computers you can use for free if you do not have one of your own.

Next Step

The next course up that we offer is Digital Functional Skills at Entry 3 level. This is a more detailed and challenging course which is assessed by an exam rather than a coursework portfolio. The best preparation for this next course is to complete both ICT for Beginners A and ICT for Beginners B first.

Need support planning your next steps?
