What the course is about

<p>This course will help you start learning English through simple conversations.</p>

<p>You will practise speaking, listening, and working with others so you feel more confident communicating in everyday situations.<br />
It is designed to support you as your first step before moving on to a qualification course.</p>

<li>Help you communicate in simple everyday situations</li>
<li>Develop your ability to work and learn with others</li>
<li>Prepare you for progression to an ESOL qualification</li>
</ul>

<p><strong><u>Speaking and Communication</u></strong><br />
You will learn how to:</p>

<ul>
<li>Say simple words and sentences</li>
<li>Ask and answer basic questions</li>
<li>Talk about yourself and your daily life</li>
<li>Understand simple instructions</li>
</ul>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>You can enrol directly onto this course and do not need to attend an admissions session beforehand.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>There are no formal exams<br />
You will complete practical activities in class<br />
Your teacher will observe your progress<br />
You will work towards simple learning goals</p>

<p>Your tutor will help you build a portfolio of work to show your achievements and progress throughout the course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for learners:</p>

<li>Or beginners at Entry Level 1</li>
<li>Who want to start learning English through conversation</li>

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
