<p>You will practise speaking and listening through simple conversations, activities, and real-life scenarios.</p>

<p>It is a friendly and supportive course where you can learn at your own pace and prepare for your next step into a qualification course.</p>

<p>Course Purpose</p>

<li>Build confidence in spoken English</li>
<li>Support communication in everyday situations</li>
<li>Prepare you to move on to an accredited ESOL course</li>
<li>Provide a starting point for learners new to English</li>
<li>Support learners joining courses during the year</li>
</ul>

<p>You will practise:</p>

<li>Basic everyday conversations</li>
<li>Asking and answering simple questions</li>
<li>Speaking about yourself, your family, and daily life</li>
<li>Understanding simple instructions and conversations</li>
<li>Key vocabulary for real-life situations</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Daily life and routines</li>
<li>Shopping and travel</li>
<li>Health and appointments</li>
<li>Food and culture</li>
<li>Asking for help and solving problems</li>
</ul>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>You can enrol directly onto this course and do not need to attend an admissions session beforehand.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<ul>
<li>There are no formal exams on this course</li>
<li>You will complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with targets</li>
<li>Your teacher will carry out informal assessments each term</li>
<li>This will help prepare you for progression to a qualification course</li>
</ul>

<li>With little or no English (Pre-Entry level)</li>
<li>Who want to build confidence before joining a formal course</li>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. <strong>Home study:</strong> you will&nbsp;be required to do significant&nbsp;study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
