What the course is about
<p>During this course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about the French language and culture. You will develop your existing vocabulary and improve your ability to communicate effectively in conversation.You will consolidate your understanding of the French culture and vocabulary and increase your ability to speak and understand the language . Topics that may be covered include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Eating out and speciality foods</li>
<li>French culture and history</li>
<li>Key grammar and tenses</li>
<li>Medical and health issues</li>
<li>Music, films and television</li>
</ul>
<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work on these elements throughout the course. Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people. Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.</p>
<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.</p>
Pre-course information session or interview
<p>There are no pre-course admission sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course. Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance and completed the Online Modern Foreign Languages Initial Assessment in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.</p>
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course. There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
<p>This is a Beginners Step 3 course, and you will be expected to have an increased basic knowledge and confidence in the subject and feel happy working more independently. You should be keen to expand the breadth and depth of your skills.</p>
Materials and costs
<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder. During the first session your tutor may discuss additional materials to bring if possible.</p>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />
<strong>Qualification Levels:</strong> there is further information about qualification levels on our website.<br />
<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
