What the course is about

<p>Dorset buttons are a beautiful piece of local history with the techniques unchanged for centuries. In this course, you will learn how to turn metal rings and embroidery floss into wearable works of art.</p>

<p>You will start by learning the basic techniques through creating a bouquet button moving on to alternative designs. Dorset buttons can be endlessly adapted to create a personalised addition to any outfit. These buttons are not restricted to being used for clothing; you may turn yours into jewellery or wall art.</p>

<p>You will have the option to adapt choices made to suit your ability.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>Thread, needles and rings will be provided however if you have a particular colour embroidery floss already that you would like to use feel free to bring this along.</p>

<p>If you wish to turn your buttons into jewellery you may want to bring your own brooch backs or jewellery findings.</p>

Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
