What the course is about

<p>Do you want to know more about what to grow and what to sow. What goes where and when it should be planted. How to garden on a limited budget or with limited space.</p>

<p>Adapting your garden to meet your needs, budget and space can be an exciting challenge, with a little extra know-how and improved skills. </p>

<p>During this course you will be introduced to: </p>

<ul>
<li>seasonal gardening activities </li>
<li>garden planning</li>
<li>soil type and how to prepare for planting</li>
<li>different types of plants</li>
<li>how to manage weeds and other gardening problems </li>
<li>how to make your garden nature and wildlife friendly </li>
<li>how to grow your own plants for minimal outlay </li>
</ul>

<p>This course is theory based but will include interactive gardening activities. Please dress for potential weather should an activity be outdoors and wear the appropriate closed toed footwear.</p>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course. </p>

<p>This course offers an avenue for creative pursuits, improving your health and wellbeing. The friendly classroom environment is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.</p>

<p>Practice at home is advisable to enhance your learning experience. </p>

<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course. </p>

<p>There are no pre-course information sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.</p>

<p>There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for beginners and for those who would like to refresh or further their skills.</p>

<p>This course is for people who would like to know what to grow and what to sow, what grows best where and when to plant it, plus how to improve their gardening skills and techniques. </p>

Materials and costs

<p>Some venues are affected by carparking fees. </p>

<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder. </p>

<p>?You are advised to wear old clothes or an overall to protect your clothes. Please dress for potential weather should an activity be outdoors and wear the appropriate closed toed footwear. </p>

<p>During the first session your tutor will discuss additional materials to bring if possible. Please be aware you will need to provide some materials. </p>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will&nbsp;be required to do significant&nbsp;study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
