This mixed level maths course is aimed at adults who want to develop their number skills to move towards undertaking a functional skills qualification, if appropriate. Learners will practise four maths operations at their respective levels and learn about a wide range of maths key words.

What is this course about?

<p>This course is aimed at adults who wish to develop their number skills and move towards undertaking a Functional Skills Maths accredited course, if appropriate.<br />
 </p>

Who is this course for?

<p>This course is for people who will benefit by improving their understanding of maths operations, improve confidence in Maths problem solving and eventually progress to an accredited Functional Maths course.<br />
 </p>

Are there any entry requirements?

<p>You must be aged 19 or older by the 31st of August 2023. You should have a basic knowledge of Maths. You will be asked to undertake initial assessment in English and maths.</p>

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

<p>Yes. Before you can enrol on this course the tutor will speak to you to discuss your suitability for the course.<br />

How will I be taught?

<p>You will attend lessons onsite each week and use MS Teams and BKSB learning platforms to access learning resources and homework. You will receive feedback on your homework and tutor will answer your questions during a lesson. You will complete assignments and quizzes sent to you via MS Teams for the tutor to measure your progress.<br />

What feedback will I get?

<p>You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback as a group during the session, and written feedback on paper exercises you do. You will decide individual learning goals with your tutor and see your progress over the term by keeping a folder of work.</p>

Additional information

<p>It is very important for you to attend online lessons regularly. If you are unable to attend an online lesson, please notify your tutor. If you do not come to classes during the first week or fail to attend for two consecutive classes without informing your tutor, you may lose your place of study.<br />

Assessment Method

<p>Initial assessment before the course and diagnostic & formative assessments during the course. It is important that you complete homework on time. Your homework will be marked and the tutor will give you written and verbal feedback to support your progress</p>

Equipment Required

<p>A computer, email, internet connection, pencil, pens, dictionary and folder. You have to download MS Team software on your computer. You will also need to download MS Teams App on your mobile, so that you receive notification when an item is posted by your tutor.</p>
