about

Haringey Learns is Haringey’s lifelong learning service for people aged 19 and over. We aim to be open, welcoming and supportive.

People join our courses because they want to:

Upskill to get better work or earn more

Reskill to change careers

Keep healthy, active and well

Get more fully involved and integrated in their local communities

Build confidence as a learner, if education wasn’t a great experience first time round

We are known for our friendly, welcoming staff, skilled and passionate tutors and the close, supportive working relationships learners make with each other on courses. Feedback from learners is very positive. Haringey Learns feels like a community where they achieve things they thought they’d never be able to.

Our class sizes are relatively small, so we can ensure that each learner gets individual attention and support. Whatever your previous experience or level of education, we’ll find a place for you. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive service.

We work in close partnership with the GLA (Greater London Authority) as well as local schools, libraries, employers, and voluntary/community organisations to ensure that we constantly improve standards of provision. We are currently rated as ‘Good’ by OFSTED. In our last inspection report, March 2023, OFSTED wrote:

We go the extra mile to ensure that you choose the right course for you. Learners are invited to a pre-course assessment where we make sure you get placed at the right level. At Haringey Learns, you will have further opportunities to discuss your learning or career before, during or after attending a course, and you will be given support to move on into work, further study or volunteering..

We like to encourage our learners wherever possible to get involved in the running of Haringey Learns. This includes class reps who provide feedback on their group’s experiences and suggestions.. We run a wide range of health and wellbeing activities for learners to participate in alongside their studies, such as ‘tea and talk’ sessions, lunchtime lectures from visiting speakers and campaigns on a range of issues from reading and Maths to dyslexia and mental health.

We believe that learning transforms lives.
