What is this course about?
<p>The course is about developing reading skills to help you with functional and every day life and wellbeing. The course will also prepare you for further learning and will develop essential English skills that you will need for future employment.</p>
Who is this course for?
<p>The course is for learners who would like to build their confidence in English Reading at Entry level 3 and would like to learn English for everyday purposes or as preparation for future employment.</p>
Are there any entry requirements?
<p>You must be 19 or over on 31st August 2026, to apply. Enrolment is subject to GLA-funding eligibility being confirmed in respect of residency, income and prior attainment, and initial assessments.</p>
Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?
<p>You will have a skills check with your subject tutor, before you enrol. This will help us to establish your current level of English so that you can be placed in the right class, for your level.</p>
How will I be taught?
<p>You will be taught safely in face to face lessons.</p>
What feedback will I get?
<p>Your tutor will work closely with you and will give you feedback on tasks, activities and homework, throughout the course. This will help you to improve your reading and writing.</p>
How will I be able to give my views on the course?
<p>You will be able to give your feedback in a feedback form at the end of the course. You may also be asked to give feedback for the funders and for Ofsted.</p>
What course can I do next?
<p>You can progress to an accredited Functional Skills In English course, once you have acquired the essential skills. You can progress to Maths and IT/Digital courses that are offered at the centre or to one of our Career Development or Pathways to Employment courses.</p>
Assessment Method
<p>You will be assessed throughout the course, through class activities, tasks and homework.</p>
Equipment Required
<p>You will be asked to bring a folder, writing paper and pens to lessons, to learn effectively and well.</p>
