<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Learners will improve their grammar and vocabulary, enabling them to speak more confidently and accurately.  <span style="background-color:white">Learners will also learn about life and culture in the UK and about how to access local services and facilities available.</span></span></span></p>

During this course learners will learn how to apply these skills in a variety of situations at work, at home and in the community. Learners will develop their grammar and vocabulary, enabling them to speak with more confidence and accuracy.  </span></span><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="background-color:white"><span style="font-family:&#34;Calibri&#34;,sans-serif">Learners will also learn about life and culture in the UK and about how to access local services and facilities available.</span></span></span></span></span></p>

Express simple views clearly when speaking with others <em>e.g. I like, I think this is good/bad</em>. Make verbal request to find out information. Understand simple instructions or directions given verbally by others</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will be expected to confidently and consistently demonstrate these skills, and others, before progressing to ESOL Entry 2.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Respond to a range of questions about familiar topics. Confidently engage in discussions with others in which they are able to express their views and opinions. Develop vocabulary on a range of everyday topics like jobs, news stories, travel, health, shopping, food, different festivals in the UK, etc.  </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Participate in role-play based on familiar situations such as meeting new people, going to the doctor’s, shopping for clothes, etc. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Ask for directions and information using different question types. Take part in social interactions, state a problem, give an opinion and make plans. Explain events using past, present and future time</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Give presentations on different topics using past and present tenses. Take part in discussions on various topics, make requests and ask questions to obtain information in familiar and unfamiliar situations. Listen to, and get information from, various videos/clips.</span></span></span></p>
