<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">This course is for learners with some basic literacy skills who want to improve their reading and writing skills for everyday communication. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will develop the confidence to interact with others in everyday situations such as reading and writing basic text for forms, emails, leaflets etc. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 2 -</strong><strong> Reading and Writing</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">This course is for ESOL learners with basic literacy skills who want to improve their reading and writing skills for everyday communication. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will develop their existing skills to be able to read and write with more confidence and complete tasks such as reading emails or letters, writing a short messages etc. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="background-color:white">Learners will also learn about life and culture in the UK and about how to access local services and facilities available.</span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 2 -& Entry 3 -</strong><strong>Reading and Writing</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">This course is for learners who have achieved ESOL Entry 1 and/or Entry 2 in Writing and/or Reading, or have been assessed as working towards these levels.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will develop their existing <strong>writing skills</strong> to be able to write with more confidence and complete tasks such as completing form, writing emails, letters, a short messages etc. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="background-color:white">Learners will also learn about life and culture in the UK and about how to access local services and facilities available.</span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="background-color:white">Learners will also develop their <strong>reading skills</strong> so that they can </span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt">understand information from different kinds of texts such as stories, brochures, emails, </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="background-color:white">news articles, adverts, forms and get information from them</span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 3 -Reading and Writing</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">This course is for ESOL learners</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="background-color:white"><span style="color:#222222"> who need to develop their reading and writing with the focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar.</span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="background-color:white"><span style="color:#222222">Learners</span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"> will develop their skills in reading and writing using different topics such as life in the UK, different cultures, work, technology and health.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Calibri&#34;,sans-serif">At the end of the course, learners will be able to take a nationally recognised exam in ESOL Entry 3 Reading and/or Writing if they pass a mock exam</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Express simple views clearly when writing to others <em>e.g. I like, I think this is good/bad.</em> Understand simple written instructions or directions given by others. Read and write short text on a familiar topic. Use capital letters correctly when writing text. Use simple text to write personal information on a form. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will be expected to confidently and consistently demonstrate these skills, and others, before progressing to ESOL Entry 2.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 2 -</strong><strong> Reading and Writing- Learners will be able to:</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Write short texts for different audiences e.g. an e-mail to a teacher, a simple formal or informal letter, greetings card to a friend. Complete simple information on a form. Read and understand short, straightforward texts on familiar topics. Spell common words and personal details correctly. Understand and respond to simple instructions on forms e.g. circle, tick, block capitals etc. Write text using simple and compound sentences</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will be expected to confidently and consistently demonstrate these skills, and others, before progressing to ESOL Entry 3.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 2 -& Entry 3 -</strong><strong>Reading and Writing- Learners will be able to:</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Writing- </span></strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Plan and write texts for different audiences and situations e.g. an e-mail to a teacher, a simple formal or informal letter, greetings card to a friend.</span><strong> </strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Complete information on a form</span><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">. </span></strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Plan, write and proofread text about events using paragraphs, and different tenses</span><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">. </span></strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Use correct tenses, spelling and punctuation in their writing</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Reading- </span></strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Read and understand the main points of different everyday texts such as letters, adverts and leaflets. Understand key words commonly used in forms, leaflets and letters in different context, for example,</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"> from the council or from school.    </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners working at Entry 2 </span></strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">will be expected to confidently and consistently demonstrate these skills, and others, before progressing to ESOL Entry 3.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners working at Entry 3 </span></strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">will be expected to have a higher level of proficiency for each of these outcomes and be able to apply their knowledge in a greater variety of contexts.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 3 -</strong><strong>Reading and Writing- Learners will be able to:</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Read and obtain information from different types of texts such as stories, news articles, adverts, posters, brochures etc. Read and write about different festivals and days of celebration in the UK. Plan, write and proofread text about past, present and future events using paragraphs. Plan and write informal letters and emails to make plans, ask for and give information. Use correct tenses, spelling and punctuation in their writing</span></span></span></p>
