<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">This course is for learners with little or no skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. Attending this course will help learners to improve their confidence to communicate in everyday life situations.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">This course will help learners to improve these skills at a basic level so that you can progress onto the next level.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 1- All Modes</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">This course is for learners with some basic literacy skills who want to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for everyday communication. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will develop the confidence to interact with others in everyday conversations such as at the shops etc. </span></span></span></p>

What will you learn?

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Pre-Entry - All Modes- </strong><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt">learners will be able to;</span></strong></span></span></p>

<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Read common basic words and signs</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Give simple personal information <em>e.g. name and address, verbally and in writing</em></span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Understand and respond to simple questions about yourself</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Use appropriate greetings</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Follow simple instructions <em>e.g. listen, sit down, work in pairs</em></span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Spell and say numbers 1-10</span></span></span></li>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will be expected to confidently and consistently demonstrate these, and other, skills before progressing to ESOL Entry 1.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong>ESOL Entry 1 - All Modes-<span style="font-size:12.0pt">learners will be able to;</span></strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Express simple views clearly when speaking with others <em>e.g. I like, I think this is good/bad</em>. Make verbal request to find out information. Understand simple instructions or directions given by others. Read and write short text on a familiar topic. Use capital letters correctly when writing text. Use simple text to write personal information on a form. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Learners will be expected to confidently and consistently demonstrate these skills, and others, before progressing to ESOL Entry 2.</span></span></span></p>

<p>Notebook, pen, pencil and what the tutor might recommend and to be in time for class.</p>

How will you be assessed?
