So You Want to be a Volunteer

<p>Volunteering can not only benefit people who are on the receiving end but also those who give.  It can help you build confidence and improve your health and wellbeing.  So if you want to volunteer but don&#039;t know what commitment you need to have, where to look for options or how to apply then this short course will help you achieve a volunteering role which suits you.  It will help you:</p>

<ul>
<li>Help you to identify what skills you have to share and what sort of environment you would like to volunteer in</li>
<li>What would be expected of you</li>
<li>Would you need a DBS, explain what a DBS is</li>
<li>Find out about Safeguarding</li>
<li>What volunteering opportuinties are out there</li>
<li>Support your application</li>
<li>Find out what your long term goals and next steps are especially if volunteering is a step towards finding employment</li>
</ul>

<p>We welcome any of our cuyrrent students to apply, you do not need to be at a particular level, just willing to learning and wanting to do something life changing.</p>

<li>You will develop good communication and other transferable skills</li>
<li>You will be supported to gain volunteering roles or employment</li>
<li>You will be supported to identify what you can already do and what your long term goals are and how to get there</li>
<li>You will study with support from a dedicated Student Services Team</li>
<li>All the teachers are experts in their subject, fully qualified and experienced</li>
<li>We get excellent feedback from students</li>
</ul>

<p>Many students will be able to access financial support e.g., travel, childcare, course fees, resources</p>

<p>This is a short course and will be face to face in the classroom but may also include some online research or homework.   If you lack confidence you may want to have some one-to-one mentoring and coaching, and we wil catch up with you once you have avolunteering role to make sure everything is going well.</p>

<p>We will help you record your progress on this short course in your Individual learning Plan and will support you in the first few weeks of the volunteering role if you have any questions.  We will also help you create a case study of your journey to inspire others.</p>

<p>No there are no additional costs</p>

<p>There is no qualification on this short course but if you want to get a qualification oce you have your voolunteering role we can help with that too.</p>

<p>You will have the opportunity to enrol on our Level 1 Award in Volunteering or onto other AEW courses.</p>
