<p>Are you interested in working in a school environment supporting the teaching and learning in schools or colleges?  We offer a range of courses from Level 1 up to Level 3. </p>

<p> </p>

<p><strong>Preparing to work in schools Level 1 </strong></p>

<p>This short course is for those wishing to have an introduction to the key aspects of supporting pupils within a school environment. You will gain knowledge on a range of topics including communication skills, supporting pupils safety and wellbeing and have an understanding of the school environment.  </p>

<p><strong>Teaching Assistant Level 2 </strong></p>

<p>This course is for those who are interested in working with teachers to directly support the teaching and learning of pupils in schools or colleges. It provides a valuable opportunity for individuals to develop skills, gain underpinning knowledge and demonstrate competence in the workplace. It is suitable for anyone who provides support for learning activities and assists in the care and support of pupils. You will need a 1-day per week placement to successfully achieve. </p>

<p><strong>Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 Diploma </strong></p>

<p>The course is for those who work with teachers to directly support the teaching and learning of pupils in schools or colleges. It provides a valuable opportunity for individuals to develop skills, gain underpinning knowledge and demonstrate competence in the workplace in more depth. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering, and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning. You will need a 2-day per week placement to successfully achieve. </p>

Course requirements

<p>Entry to these courses starts with an informal meeting with your teacher. You will need to have a good use of English for each course level. If you do not have a qualification at Level 2 in English, there will be a short skill check to see what level you are working at. </p>

<p>There will be an opportunity to join a separate English, maths and digital skills class if you do not already have a Level 2 qualification in these subjects.  </p>

<p>For the Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 Diploma you will need to have at least one year’s experience working in a school prior to starting this course that includes the National Curriculum. </p>

<p>You will need 100% attendance throughout the course to successfully achieve. </p>

<p>You will be given a FREE Microsoft Office 365 account including access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. </p>

How will I learn?

<p>Your teacher will help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills through planned lessons, discussions, group activities, research, tutorials, and practical activities. Up to 25% of your course will be by remote learning that will involve you carrying out activities outside of the classroom. </p>

<p>You will also learn through your experiences at your work placement (Certificate and Diploma courses). </p>

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

<p>Most sessions will be delivered face-to-face. There will be planned lessons, discussions, group activities, research, tutorials, and practical activities giving you the best experience for a move onto the next level of course or into employment.  Up to 25% of your course will be independent learning that will involve you carrying out activities outside of the classroom. </p>

<p>For the certificate and diploma courses you will also learn through your experiences at your placement or workplace where you will also be observed, and delivery will be flexible which may include online sessions where you will learn to Use Microsoft Teams. </p>

<p>Learning support is available if you have a learning disability, let us know on your application if you require support. </p>

Are there any additional costs?

<p> </p>

<p>For many students the course will be free. Student services will check your eligibility for funding.   </p>

<p>You will need to supply your own writing materials such as pens, paper and folders but you may be able to loan a laptop and a MiFi dongle to enable you to learn at home. </p>

<p> </p>

<p>For the full Level 2 and 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools courses you will also have to have a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). If you are eligible for Discretionary Learner Support funding, this will be supported. </p>

What qualification will I get?

<p>If you attend regularly you may achieve one of the following qualifications:  </p>

<p>NCFE Cache Award in Preparing to work in schools Level 1 </p>

<p>NCFE Cache Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 2 </p>

<p>NCFE Cache Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 3 </p>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>• Progression to the next level Supported Teaching and Learning course.  </p>

<p>• You may wish to broaden your skills in other areas such as English, maths or digital skills. </p>

<p>Successful achievement of the Level 2 Certificate or Level 3 Diploma may lead to a variety of employment opportunities including: </p>

<p>  Teaching Assistant (£14,000 to £21,000) </p>

<p>  Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant (£14,000 to £23,000) </p>
