Essential Digital Skills - Level 1

<ul>
<li>The Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualification is designed for adults who want to develop the digital skills needed for work, learning and everyday life.</li>
<li>Suitable for students progressing from Entry 3 or those confident with basic digital tasks who want to build more advanced digital capabilities.</li>
</ul>

<p>The qualification covers the same five national digital skills areas as Entry 3, but at a more advanced, work-focused level:</p>

<li>Using Devices & Handling Information</li>
<li>Creating & Editing</li>
<li>Communicating</li>
<li>Transacting</li>
<li>Being Safe & Responsible Online</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>You must be aged 19 or over.</li>
<li>Recommended: completion of Essential Digital Skills Entry 3 or equivalent experience.</li>
<li>Students at Level 1 should already be familiar with using email, the internet and basic software.</li>
<li>An initial assessment will determine your suitability for Level 1.</li>
</ul>

<li>Through practical activities including creating documents, emailing, online research, secure transactions and file management.</li>
<li>Hands-on use of laptops, smartphones and cloud-based tools.</li>
<li>Teacher-led demonstrations followed by guided tasks.</li>
<li>Real-life scenarios such as online job applications, digital communication and troubleshooting.</li>
</ul>

<li>Assessment is via online assessment, externally set and internally marked.</li>
<li>Includes practical, task based digital activities.</li>
<li>Evidence must demonstrate competence across all five digital skills areas.</li>
</ul>

<li>Course fees may apply, depending on eligibility.</li>
<li>No specialist equipment required.</li>
<li>You may wish to bring basic stationery (pen and notebook)</li>
</ul>
