Get Ready for Maths - Level 1

<p>A supportive maths course designed to help adults develop confidence and strengthen skills needed for Level 1 maths.  </p>

<p>Ideal for students who have some basic maths knowledge but are not yet ready for a Level 1 qualification.  </p>

<p>Focuses on practical maths for everyday life, work and further study.  </p>

<p>A non-qualification course that prepares students to progress successfully to accredited maths courses. </p>

<ul>
<li>Working confidently with whole numbers and decimals  </li>
<li>Using the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)  </li>
<li>Understanding fractions, percentages and simple ratios  </li>
<li>Using maths for everyday situations such as money, time and measures  </li>
<li>Reading and interpreting tables, charts and simple data  </li>
<li>Problem-solving using practical maths skills </li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>You must be aged 19 or over.  </li>
<li>No formal maths qualification required.  </li>
<li>Suitable for students working at high Entry Level or below Level 1.  </li>
<li>Willingness to practise maths skills and take part in activities.  </li>
<li>Regular attendance to support progress and confidence. </li>
</ul>

<li>Strengthens key skills needed for Level 1 maths study.  </li>
<li>Supports everyday maths needs for work and daily life.  </li>

<li>Prepares students for progression to Level 1 Functional Skills Maths. </li>

<li>Through teacher-led classroom sessions in a supportive environment.  </li>
<li>Practical activities linked to real-life situations.  </li>
<li>Step-by-step explanations and guided practice.  </li>
<li>Group discussion, individual activities and problem-solving tasks.  </li>
<li>Regular feedback from the teacher to support improvement. </li>
</ul>

<li>Ongoing informal assessment through classroom activities.  </li>
<li>Teacher observation and feedback throughout the course.  </li>
<li>Support to identify strengths and next steps.  </li>
<li>No exams and no formal qualification. </li>
</ul>

<li>The course is free for most adult students, depending on eligibility.</li>
<li>You may need basic stationery (pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, notebook, calculator).</li>
<li>No specialist equipment or textbooks are required.</li>
</ul>
