Course details

<p>This programme is designed to support young adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to gain the skills, confidence, and experience needed to move into employment.</p>

<p>Supported Internships provide a structured pathway into work through a combination of classroom learning and a substantial work placement with an employer. The programme focuses on developing independence, employability skills, and real-life work experience in a supportive environment.</p>

<p>The programme includes a personalised learning plan, with key areas such as:</p>

<ul>
<li>Employability and Workplace Skills</li>
<li>English and Communication Skills</li>
<li>Maths Skills for Everyday Work Tasks</li>
<li>Digital Skills</li>
<li>Personal and Social Development</li>
<li>Job-Specific Skills (linked to placement)</li>
<li>You will spend a significant amount of time in a real work setting, supported by trained staff.</li>
</ul>

Course requirements

<p>To join a Supported Internship, you must:</p>

<ul>
<li>Be aged 16–24</li>
<li>Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)</li>
<li>Be motivated to move into employment</li>
<li>Be willing to take part in a work placement</li>
<li>Be able to travel (independently or with support if needed)</li>
</ul>

<p>No formal qualifications are required.</p>

Location

<p>City Learning Quarter, Old Hall Street, Wolverhampton WV1 3AU</p>

<p>Work placements will be with local employers across Wolverhampton and surrounding areas.</p>

<p>You will be supported both in college and in the workplace.</p>

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

<li>There are <strong>no formal exams</strong></li>
<li>Progress is assessed through a<strong> portfolio of evidence</strong>, including:
<ul>
<li>Workplace performance and feedback</li>
<li>Tutor and job coach observations</li>
<li>Practical tasks and activities</li>
<li>Simple written or recorded work</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Regular reviews will track your progress and support your development.</p>

Are there any additional costs?

<p>There are no additional course costs.<br />
All learning materials and resources will be provided.</p>

What qualification will I get?

<p>You may achieve:</p>

<li>A relevant Entry Level or Level 1 qualification (e.g. Employability or Skills for Work)</li>
