<p>Do you want to develop your creative passion by learning to create your own professional looking cake decorations and sugar craft?</p>
<p>Would you like to be self-employed or work in the creative industries?</p>
<p>We offer a range of courses from Entry Level to Level 2 that will help you reach your goal.</p>
<p><strong>Cake Decorating – an introduction</strong> – Start your creative journey with this beginner’s course. It will introduce you to some of the basic skills involved in cake decorating and sugar craft resulting in a qualification. Learn the basics of designing and decorating your own celebration cakes, using a variety of sugar paste, flower paste, icing and other decorative techniques. </p>
<p>Cake Decorating Level 1 - This practical course will allow you to further develop your skills in cake decorating and sugar craft to create more challenging projects and gain a qualification. You will learn to design and decorate your own celebration cakes, using sugar paste, flower paste, icing and marzipan. </p>
<p><strong>Cake Decorating Level 2 </strong>- This course will provide you with the opportunity to develop your creative passion further whether this is to be put to use in home baking or turned into a self-employment opportunity. You will be able to give your cake decorating a more professional look by learning a variety of more advanced techniques.</p>
<p>You will have the opportunity to explore opportunities for employment and self-employment.</p>
Course requirements
<p>Entry to these courses starts with an informal meeting with your teacher. You will need to have a good use of English for each course level. There will be an opportunity to join a separate English, maths or digital skills class if you do not already have a Level 2 qualification in these subjects.</p>
<p>You will need 100% attendance throughout the course to successfully achieve.</p>

What are the benefits of this course?

<li>Many students will be able to access financial support e.g., course fees, resources, travel, childcare, laptop loan</li>

<li>You will be given a FREE Microsoft Office 365 account including access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint</li>
</ul>
How will I learn?
<p>Most sessions will be delivered face-to-face. There will be planned lessons, discussions, group activities, research, tutorials, and demonstrations followed by practical activities giving you the best experience whilst preparing you for a move onto the next level of course or into employment. In addition there may be online sessions where you will learn to use Microsoft Teams. Up to 25% of your course will be independent learning that will involve you carrying out activities outside of the classroom.</p>
<p>Learning support is available if you have a learning disability, let us know on your application if you require support.</p>
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
<p>Assessment takes place throughout your study in the form of written assignments and the production of a range of items. Your teacher will negotiate assessment plans with you on a regular basis and will give you feedback on how well you are doing.</p>
<p>You will have an Individual Learning Plan which will be used to record your targets and progress.</p>
<p>There are no examinations as you will put together a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed by your teacher and moderated externally.</p>
Are there any additional costs?
<p>For many students the course will be free. Student services will check your eligibility for funding.</p>
<p>You will need to supply your own writing materials such as pens, paper and folders and you will need to provide your own cake decorating resources, the teacher will advise you in your first session. If you do not have a computer or laptop but need to use one for your learning you may be able to loan a laptop and a MiFi dongle to enable you to learn at home.</p>

What qualification will I get?
<p>On successful achievement of your course you will be awarded one of the following:</p>
<p>NCFE Entry Level Award in Creative Craft</p>
<p>NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft</p>
<p>NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Craft</p>
What will I be able to do after this course?

<li>Progression to the next level creative craft course.</li>
<li>You may wish to broaden your skills in other areas such as English, maths or digital skills.</li>
<li>Successful achievement of the course may lead to a variety of employment opportunities including:
