An Introduction to British Sign Language

<ul>
<li>A beginner-level course designed to introduce adults to <strong>British Sign Language (BSL)</strong>.</li>
<li>Ideal for students with no previous experience who want to learn basic signing skills.</li>
<li>Focuses on communication, everyday signs and an introduction to Deaf awareness.</li>
<li>A supportive, non-qualification course that helps students build confidence in basic BSL communication.</li>

<li>Introduction to British Sign Language</li>
<li>Fingerspelling and the BSL alphabet</li>
<li>Everyday vocabulary and simple phrases</li>
<li>Basic greetings and introductions</li>
<li>Numbers, time and everyday topics</li>
<li>Introduction to Deaf culture and communication awareness</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>You must be aged 19 or over.</li>
<li>Suitable for complete beginners with no prior BSL experience needed.</li>
<li>Learners must have sufficient vision, manual dexterity and facial/body movement to produce and receive BSL.</li>
<li>Regular attendance and independent practice recommended.</li>
</ul>

<li>Ongoing informal assessment during class activities.</li>
<li>Teacher observation and feedback on signing skills.</li>
<li>No exams and no formal assessments.</li>
<li>Guidance provided to support further learning.</li>

<li>No specialist equipment required.</li>
