<p>The aim of this course is to equip you with the knowledge and understanding of: • The principles or promoting health and wellbeing • How to direct individuals towards further practical support in their efforts to attain a healthier lifestyle This is NOT about you: • Assessing people’s health and fitness using detailed questionnaires or specialist equipment to techniques This IS about helping people to: • Meet their needs • Make informed choices • Develop and / or improve healthier lifestyles As a health champion, you will need to listen and provide support. You will be a source of information, able to signpost people to services and generally be available to support healthier lifestyles and behaviour change.</p>

Course requirements

<p>This course requires you to be able to access the Internet and login to a webpage. You do not need to be an expert computer user but you will need to be able to click on icons and arrows to move through the course and access the activities. You will need to be able to spend 8 hours on to complete the learning online. Upon completion you will receive and RSPH completion certificate, this IS NOT the qualification. To achieve the level 2 qualification and qualify as a Health Champion, you will need to attend an AEW centre for an additional revision session and to sit the multiple choice exam.</p>

What are the benefits of this course?

<p>This course is ideal if you have a professional role such as a Community Health Worker, a Health Advisor, a Pharmacy Assistant, or a voluntary role like a Workplace Health Champion. The course will also give you the tools you need to motivate and encourage others to make healthy lifestyle choices. We also recommend the course for you if you run a business and would like to set up a Health Champion programme. This course will equip your ‘Champions’ with the tools and resources they need to help make their colleagues happier and healthier.</p>

How will I learn?

<p>Once you have enrolled a teacher will contact you to make sure you know how to access the resources and to confirm the date of your final assessment. You will need to complete the online resources before this date. The course uses Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) online resources which have lots of information to read and are split into four key sections with interactive elements. At the end of each section there is a revision quiz. At the beginning of your course you will be given a date and time to attend to sit the multiply choice question paper which will be sent to the awarding organistion to be marked and certificated if you have successfully achieved the qualification.  The suggested learning hours for this course are 8 hours.</p>

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

<p>The online learning resources you will be using are on the official RSPH e-learning system.  After each learning section there will be quizes to help you monitor your progress and understanding.  You can work through the course as many times as you  like.</p>

What qualification will I get?

<p>If you are successful in your exam you will receive the RSPH Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement.</p>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>Following this course you may be able to put your new knowledge into practice in your employment or voluntary role. Once you have completed this course your teacher will make you aware of our other online courses you may be interested in.
