What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course

<p>No prior knowledge needed.</p>

How will my progress be assessed?

<p>The tutor will give guidance throughout the session and there will be opportunities to ask questions. You will be asked to complete a Personal Learning Plan at the beginning and end of the course to track your personal aims. </p>

What will the course cover?

<p>This 5-session family learning course is designed to support parents and caregivers in understanding key aspects of early childhood development. Each week focuses on a specific area, offering practical knowledge and strategies to foster strong, healthy relationships and support children’s growth. </p>

<p>Week 1 – Bonding, Attachment & Social Emotional Development: Explore the foundations of secure attachment and learn how early relationships shape emotional well-being. </p>

<p>Week 2 – Brain Development: Understand how a child’s brain grows and how everyday interactions can support healthy cognitive development. </p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Week 3 – Crying, Colic, and Overstimulation: Learn how to interpret and respond to common infant behaviors, including techniques for soothing and managing stress. </p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Week 4 – Language Development: Discover how communication begins and how to support your child’s language and literacy from birth. </p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Week 5 – Physical Development: Gain insight into motor milestones and how to encourage physical growth through play and movement. </p>

<p>This course provides a supportive space to share experiences, build confidence, and deepen your understanding of your child’s development. </p>

How will I be taught?

<p>Sessions will be led by a tutor in small groups. </p>

What will I need to bring?

<p>You may wish to bring a blanket to lay your baby on. </p>

Will I get a qualification?

<p>No.</p>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>By the end of this course, parents will be able to confidently understand their baby’s early development. You will also have practical tools for soothing and bonding with your baby, along with strategies for maintaining your own well-being and mental health during the postnatal period. </p>
