Who is the course for

<p>These workshops are aimed at families with children aged 18 months - 4, who wish to further their knowledge and understanding of how to support their child’s language development at home. </p>

<p> </p>

<p>Please note, these sessions have not been designed for children with speech challenges or delays. Please see our monthly Communication Club if this is what you require. </p>

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course

<p>No prior skills or knowledge needed. </p>

How will my progress be assessed?

<p>You will be asked to complete a ‘Getting to know you’ form at the beginning of the course, followed by a quick questionnaire at the end of the four weeks to show what you learned, enjoyed and have found helpful. </p>

What will the course cover?

<p>This exciting 4-week journey covers a whole variety of fun ways to encourage and develop language and communication. Together with your child, we will </p>

<p>Explore why storytelling is important, read stories old and new, and learn to tell and retell stories in new and exciting ways at home.  </p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Understand why it is important to sing nursery rhymes, share favourite nursery rhymes and create imaginative activities to help share rhymes at home. </p>
</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>
<p>Recognise the importance for children to develop their sense of self and create games and activities to encourage children to develop the language associated with their identity and community. </p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Discover how games can provide a wealth of opportunity for developing children’s language and create games that can be played at home or while out and about. </p>
</li>
</ul>

<p>Each session is 2 hours long, including time for questions at the end. </p>

<p>So why not come along with your little ones and join us for stories, songs, games and most importantly lots of fun!  </p>

How will I be taught?

<p>The sessions will be delivered by a tutor in small groups. You are able to bring your children along and learn together. There will also be opportunities for parents/carers to learn helpful information while your children play. </p>

What will I need to bring?

<p>You do not need to bring anything.</p>

Will I get a qualification?

<p>No.</p>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>You will have a deeper understanding of why talk and language is so important for children, as well have some ideas for how to create language rich experiences for your child at home.   </p>
