Who is the course for

<p>These sessions are aimed at families with children aged 0-5 with speech and language difficulties, delays or challenges. Please contact <a href="mailto:familylearning@westsussex.gov.uk" target="_blank">familylearning@westsussex.gov.uk</a> if you have any questions around suitability for your child. </p>

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course

<p>No prior skills or knowledge needed. </p>

How will my progress be assessed?

<p>You will be asked to complete a ‘Getting to know you’ form at the beginning of the course, followed by a quick questionnaire at the end of the four weeks to show what you learned, enjoyed and have found helpful. </p>

What will the course cover?

<p>These monthly workshops are designed to empower parents and carers of children with speech and communication challenges and delays by offering practical, hands-on ideas to support early language development. </p>

<p>Each session focuses on a key area of communication, such as early interaction skills, understanding developmental milestones, following simple instructions, and expanding vocabulary. </p>

<p>Parents and carers will leave with new strategies to nurture communication skills at home, while children enjoy a variety of fun and interactive activities. From playful games to songs, rhymes, and stories, each session used visual aids and Makaton signing to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment for everyone. </p>

How will I be taught?

<p>The sessions will be delivered by a tutor in a small group and will be play-based so that you and your child can learn together.  </p>

What will I need to bring?

<p>You do not need to bring anything. </p>

Will I get a qualification?

<p>No.</p>

What will I be able to do after this course?

<p>You will take away ideas for ways to support the development of early speech and communication skills.  You will also be able to have a say in the topics of future sessions.  </p>
