What is the course about?

<p>This workshop, led by two assistant educational psychologists from Swindon Borough Council, explores why regular school attendance is so important for children’s wellbeing, learning, and confidence. We’ll look at the common causes of emotional-based school avoidance, the role anxiety can play, and how to understand what might be driving your child’s difficulties. The session will also cover how to gather helpful information and share practical strategies you can use at home to support your child in feeling more able to attend school. If you’re looking for guidance and effective tools to help your child get back into a positive school routine, this workshop may be a good fit for you.</p>

Who is eligible for this course?

What will I learn?

-have a better understanding of the factors that can lead to school avoidance<br />
-be more confident using practical strategies to support your child in building a more positive and consistent school routine</p>

What materials do I need?

<p>Everything is provided but you may choose to bring a pad and pen to make notes.  Please remember it is an online course and you will need access to the internet.</p>

How will I be assessed?

<p>Your progress will be assessed through informal group and individual activities such as discussions.</p>

What can I do next?

<p>You will receive information and advice about your next steps that could include further learning, volunteering or routes into employment.</p>
