ESOL: New to English - Speaking and Listening

<p>This is a beginners course  English for those who speak another first language and want to learn English.</p>

<p>This course is for people who have no or very low English speaking and listening skills. <br />
 </p>

<p>By the end of the course, you will be able to listen, understand and say simple words and sounds in English including:</p>

<p>• Making and responding to simple greetings</p>

<p>• Understanding and clearly answering very simple questions</p>

<p>• Asking very simple questions and understanding very simple answers</p>

<p>Everything is provided but you may choose to bring a pad and pen to make notes.</p>

<p>You and your tutor will agree some targets for you to aim for. Your tutor will support you to achieve your target and discuss how you are doing as the course progresses.</p>

<p>You will receive information and advice about your next steps that could include moving onto the next level ESOL course.</p>

<p>You will have either a face to face or over the phone assessment (often supported by a family members or a referrer) to make sure you join the correct level course.</p>

<p>You will join a small group in a friendly and supportive environment. Interactive learning will take place through discussions, group work, videos and hands-on practice of different tools and techniques.</p>
