What is the course about?

<p>Working in partnership with Swindon Borough Council’s Tenant Academy and Renew, we are running a new DIY course. This course aims to provide you with the confidence to carry out simple home maintenance tasks safely and is aimed at those with no, or very few DIY skills. The course will include the knowledge and skills needed to paint, wallpaper, repair holes in walls, put up pictures and curtain rails, fix a leaking tap, unblock a sink and bleed a radiator.</p>

<p>All materials and equipment will be provided, and you will also get to find out about the new Swindon Borough Council Library of Things – somewhere you can borrow DIY tools free of charge.</p>

Who is eligible for this course?

What will I learn?

<p>By the end of the course, you will</p>

<p>• Understand how to use basic DIY materials and tools <strong>safely</strong></p>

<p>• Use basic decorating skills</p>

<p>• Use tools to fix items to a wall and complete small repairs</p>

<p>• Use basic plumbing skills</p>

What materials do I need?

<p>Everything is provided but you may choose to bring a pad and pen to make notes.</p>

How will I be assessed?

<p>Your progress will be assessed through informal group and individual activities such as discussions and workbooks.</p>

What can I do next?

<p>You will receive information and advice about your next steps that could include further learning, volunteering or routes into employment.</p>
